The Offending Posts Commentary Thread

Yeah, and you left just enough space to keep it from being a direct attack by saying "anyone who believes this is..."
I think that's a weak defense when it comes to board moderation.

If I share an opinion and get two responses: "you're a moron" or "anybody who says that is a moron," the implication and intent is almost identical. And it's clearly not directed at the content I posted but me as a person. In all the years I've been here, even before I was mod, trying to mask personal attacks behind generic modifiers has never been a defense. One of the OG founders nearly gave me a warning for something along those lines back when I first joined.

Somebody is really reaching here

C’mon, it’s a joke. I agree with you on this point. We’ll just have to disagree on the severity or attacking nature of delusional partisan hack. Some might just call that accurately descriptive.

And I don’t know if the board software allows it but that deal where you get warned and have to acknowledge it before being allowed to post again. It would be super handy to know exactly what specific post the warning is referring to. It’s kind of like making someone admit guilt for an unnamed crime. I had to go find it in the offending post threads, after acknowledging it, to figure what I was warned about. Just my two cents.

I mean, I wager the average person would not take being called or referred to as a "delusional partisan hack" as a compliment or a benign statement lol.

I'm pretty sure that's a software limitation, unfortunately.

You can see the post you're being warned for. I don't have a fresh one to show you (don't get any ideas @Enhance  ;)  ) but when you get the warning and the message that accompanies it, there's a link in the topic title on top that will take you to the exact post.

Below is a warning I got for a post in the Immigration Ban thread. Just click that and it goes straight to your "offending" post.

I would imagine that won't work if the post has already been moved to the Offending Posts thread in the Shed because of the Shed's password protection, but if it's still in the main forums it should work.

Yes, there are more passive aggressive ways to tell someone you think they're a moron, and some folks are masters at it.

There's a small but notable distinction between "anyone who says this" and "anyone who believes this." But you're not wrong about intent.

My main quibble with Archy is his long, fucked-up history of peddling reactionary horses#!t, his cowardly attempts to mask his ugliest instincts, and the withered scrotum he attempts to swing around in every thread he poisons.

We are in The Shed, right?

Who the f#&% is the Archy guy (or gal).  Sounds like a royal a$$h@!e.  You really should eliminate conversation with that person so you can follow and learn from Archy1221.  That dude is the bomb and provides wonderful political commentary that the commoners on this board can learn from.   His wisdom is beyond his years and the patience he gives when communicating with the mentally challenged board members from California (just as an example not referring to anyone specific) and other places has to be a gift from God.  Some might say he’s doing The Lord’s Work here :dunno

Anywho, look for his profile and follow him.   You will be surprised at how learned and better of a person  you become.   And again, f#&% that Archy prick.

Bless your heart Guy! All the best :smokin

There is a setting for "Users must acknowledge issued warnings before posting again" and it is enabled.  Has been for some time.

He's explaining that he has to acknowledge that a post was against the rules without being able to see what the post was or what it said.

Sorry, I didn't read that correctly.

As @knapplc said, you can see what the warnings are.  The complaint before was they (supposedly) didn't realize they even got a warning.

Loe's flailing lack of logic and consistency are mildly offensive, but mostly in the way all posts that disagree with my politics are mildly offensive.

To my eye, only the Piece Of s#!t post deserved banishment to the Shed.
