The Offending Posts Commentary Thread

It's interesting that there are people complaining that the board is too negative and saying it might be better if only positive comments were allowed.

And - at the same time - there are people complaining about posters who are overly positive and are calling out people for being negative.

So basically people are going to complain when the board isn't run exactly how they want. Which is probably never going to happen if you actually want differing view points and discussion.

I guess I don't get why there has been so much angst during the last year or two about people having differing views. Yes, that can go over the line but not nearly as often as people are complaining about. If there is someone you don't care to interact with then don't. By insisting on arguing with them it only makes it show up more.

It seems that way too many people are labeling dissenting opinions as "trolling." Just because you don't like what someone has to say doesn't mean they are saying it just to get a negative response ("trolling"). We have often warned posters not to bring up the same points over and over again in multiple threads because that isn't helpful. Most of the posters that had to be warned about that refused to change and are no longer here. If you feel someone is doing that, there is a report function for that. We can't see everything and if you're running through a bunch of threads it can be hard to keep track of which thread it's in and - possibly.- who got it off course. So let us know what you think. But just general complaining isn't helping to solve the issue that you see.

By the way, this is a general observation about a lot of different situations, not specifically directed to any one person.
So when I post something and the same poster the day before responds with are you f'ing kidding me, Clark? And then the very next day responds to another of my posts and says I always have a negative mindset. Thats not trolling? Okay mods

When what I said was just a statement. Neither negative or positive. Just speaking my mind. And most of the people who know me here know that most of my posts are in support of the coaching staff. So yeah, he was trying to get a reaction out of me. Just like he was the night before.

I guess it means we're doing it right if "both sides" think we're against them. People need to step out of their self-fulfilling echo chambers once in awhile.

Matty's comment was a bit snobbish. He has a tendency to do that without realizing it. Not defending it, but he's been catching all sorts of hell last few days in the recruiting forum.

I get why you got the warning even if I think it was a little extreme. Been there myself.

Luke McNitt and Austin Rose also got one. Man we must have no faith that we are going to finish this class out strong. Not a very good sign.

I love seeing walk-ons get scholarships, but at least wait to see how many we have left over after signing day and players transfer.
There he is again!

It's for Spring semester per the article I read. I could see Reimers being permanent though.
So are the mods going to do their job here or what? I missed this one until just now. This dude is literally following me around the board trying to get a rise out of me.

I must be missing something, because I'm not getting the context of his post.

Let zoogs take care of it then. He knows whats going on since hes the one that gave me a warning point.

Matty is interpreting his posts as being negative. He's more or less just expressing a concern and Matty is overeacting to it and labeling him as always negative. Rike has taken exception to this as multiple occurances have arisen.

He's been catching sh#t because he deserves it.

Maybe I don't get the context here.

Nebraska scored a commit, and you posted worrying that we were a placeholder. This seems like a reasonable thing to post. It also seems reasonable to respond with "Hey, have some optimism here." We tend to gloomy outlooks sometimes about our football fortunes.

I did not get the impression that he was having it out with you, or that you were being singularly accused of always being negative. I don't at all have this impression of you, in recruiting or anything else.

Even if you were told that you are always on the pessimistic side, I do not see how that was meant to elicit a fight. If Matty's going after you repeatedly, we'll tell him he needs to knock it off as well. But we need those posts brought to our attention, like the one you posted here. Thanks.

That wasn't the first warning I handed out for an "STFU", and it won't be the last. Don't try to look for places where this "should be" allowed, because it won't be. Hope this makes sense.

To clarify, I wasn't second guessing you, just asking. Thanks.

Yeah because that was what he responded with, right?

I post something two days ago and his response to me is, "are you f'ing serious, Clark?" Then I post something else and he responds with what he did, which was not "hey lets be optimistic here". And then two hours later he responds to another of my posts "there he is again."

Everyone else can see it except for the people that need to. This is why people get banned. Because you let the trolls get away with sh#t before nipping it in the bud. At this point I don't care anymore. If he keeps following me around with snarky comments, I will respond like I did again and take the ban.
