Gummie Dicks!  I LOVE IT!

Just to point out that the word "idiot" for which someone reported my post currently residing in the Offending Posts thread has been used 21 times in P&R since October 1st.

Try using the more tech friendly lingo of ID Ten T. As in, your problem is the ID10T connection between your chair and the keyboard.

Seriously though wouldn’t it depend how “idiot” is used? I always figure a general “anybody who does/thinks such and such is an idiot” is okay as long as it’s aimed off in some non-specific direction. But if you specifically call a poster an idiot (which I’ve done and been spanked for-maybe by you?) or if the thing you’re saying makes them an idiot is directly contained in the post you quoted, then that probably isn’t bueno.

I said "All you idiots voting Republican, you endorse this." Not directed at a specific person, nor even all Republicans.

Perhaps one unintended interpretation of "all you idiots voting Republican" is "all Republicans are idiots" since the majority of voters registered to either major party tend to vote in favor of their party. That's not explicitly what's being said but it is an implication and that's how the person reporting it felt. This is disappointing rhetoric on Huskerboard given the contentious nature of P&R.

Furthermore, I searched for the use of the term "idiot" in P&R. Many of the October uses are references to political candidates or people away from the board who did something a poster felt was idiotic. That's not the same as this, in my opinion. Context is relevant.

I disagree with the appropriateness of knapp's post and think it was rightfully moved, and I also disagree with the notion that it's his responsibility to make sure that some butthurt person interprets it correctly. He didn't say all Republicans are idiots. If someone interpreted it that way, that's on them.

I guess I thought my rhetoric was not dissimilar to that of H1N1 and Dewiz and Ric Flair.  If referring to people as "idiots" for supporting Trump is beyond the pale, what do we call what they've been doing in P&R for the past two years?  Desirable rhetoric?
