The Way Too Early 2028 Election

No, not really. When we're talking about presidential candidates and top DNC leadership, they're more or less completely silent on the issue.

But, not actively being in favor of it doesn't matter when you're not actively against it and you get painted with a sympathetic brush. Best of my knowledge Kamala's never said a thing about trans athletes and what good has it done her when half+ of the electorate is convinced that she's a trans athlete activist.

Anyways, as it stands right now I'd be beyond shocked if Gavin Newsome isn't President in 2028.

I was hoping it would be him "they" picked this year but my guess is "they" talked to him about it and he didn't want to risk jumping in last minute. But I thought they needed a White dude. He probably made the right choice though (if he was asked), given how bad the loss was.

Newsome is clearly going to run and I would imagine will get the nomination.
Dems need to learn a lesson and pick someone else - not from Calif.  Kentucky, PA, or NC(current) governors come to mind.  All 3 of these governors come across as more reasoned.  Kentucky - Gov B has been popular in this red state & plays well in that region. PA -  Gov P - popular in this vital swing state and really should have been the Dem nominee after Biden stepped down & probably would have won a full scale primary;  NC -Gov C - popular governor in this swing stage and again plays well for the region.

Do you feel like "the stench" of Cali will be so strong on Gavin that it will put him in a bad spot?

If you were given only one place to get your news — either CNN or Fox News — you would have completely different pictures of what's going on in the world and who should be blamed.

And that's pretty much where we are, although it's by choice.

Do you feel like "the stench" of Cali will be so strong on Gavin that it will put him in a bad spot?
Yes  -  I think more so it is that the GOP has done a good job of labeling anything coming out of Calif as being unAmerican, ultra-liberal, social engineering, big government endorsing, & environmentally wacko.  After seeing this Yuge swing towards Trump, I cannot see a San Fran liberal turning the tide after just four years. UNLESS and this is very possible:  Trump greatly oversteps and the electorate feel totally threatened by his actions of deportation of illegals, his social issue overreaching, craziness at the FDA/HHS, dismantling the govt, his tariffs plan backfiring (which it will), etc.   If Trump goes full bore into implementing Project 2025, then anything can happen - including swinging  the pendulum the other way towards a San Fran liberal.

Man. I could've distilled that down to "learn to speak people's language better."

I'm sure people are tripping over themselves to get to a mic and declare they have the divine knowledge of why Dems lost and what they need to do next. I didn't find her examples particularly insightful, to be honest. The actual Democrats I've seen, voted for and seen win elections aren't thrusting pronouns or labeling to the front of their campaigns. But I have the benefit of being in Michigan where Democrats have won power and actually governed sensibly.

I think the hubbub over pronouns is funny. I can't remember the last time someone asked me to use their preferred pronouns. If they did, I would do so, because it's easy to be kind to others. Mostly the pronoun thing just seems like a lazy punchline for cons, who again, generally want to be a$$h@!es and not get called on their crap.

People who identify as transgender represent perhaps one half of one percent of Americans (it's probably global, too) Accepting them as they are hurts absolutely no one. Transgender women participating in women's sports is definitely trickier, but involves a tinier fraction of that tiny fraction, with the issue largely being left to the governing body of the sport itself.

It did, however, inspire the largest television buy for the Trump campaign (Kamala is for They. Trump is for You) and was often weighted equally among GOP grievances, alongside the economy, immigration, and foreign wars. That was on the Trump campaign. The Democrats actually did take Strangelove's advice and threw transgender issues under the bus during the Harris campaign, but the GOP already controlled the non-issue and capitalized on the base's fondness for demonizing the vulnerable.

I think it's pretty clear that Gavin Newsome wants to run, but Democrats aren't going to let him.

It's quite clear, to me, that the nominee is going to be Josh Shapiro. In fact, I'm more confident that Shapiro will get the nod than I was about Trump winning (which I was confident in).

You can look for him to start making speeches distancing himself from the current Democrat structure where he'll say things similar to my previous posts.

Hmmm, interesting.

I'd say there's a solid 50% chance the nominee will be someone we're not even talking about right now, because the early birds often fade down the stretch.

But Newsom would easily have outperformed Harris in this cycle and has successfully paralyzed the Fox News crowd in one-on-one confrontations. He absolutely thrives behind a mike and in front of a camera. Of course they'll let him run, especially since they can't stop him.

Remember, the "stench" of California is still the most successful economy in America by far, and its high cost of living still comes from an old-fashioned supply and demand model where enough people are still willing to pay it. Imagine the worst things they will say about Gavin Newsom. They will say the same things about Josh Shapiro. Philly will replace Hollywood and add a layer of race baiting with a dollop of anti-semitism.

That being said, Shapiro might be fine. I don't know. It's way too early. Who started this f#&%ing thread?

Because, lets be honest: if Nikki Haley/Mitt Romney were the candidate, Republicans inflict a bloodbath on Democrats that redefine politics similar to the one that let them take power for 12 years in 1980.
So basically you wanted an election between Democrats and Democrat-approved Republicans.
If that happened, Kamala would have probably not been endorsed by John Bolton and the Cheney family.
