Trump’s Accomplishments…at levels never seen before (2025 version)

As for the bold, what things specifically? Serious question. I view myself as a common man and I surely am no democrat or fan of Biden and I am hard pressed to come up with anything I really wanted Biden to do differently. I had no serious concerns about the way things were going, in fact I was pretty darned content.  So what am I missing from the common man perspective that Trump is going to deliver.
Maybe let's do this, why do you think the Dems lost?  I have answers, but most Dems us the "electorate is stupid," argument.  If the Dems keep this up, their asses will get handed to them again.  Why did Trump get so many votes?  I know what I think, but again, what do people that hate Trump think?

the dems lost because about 1/3 the country is convinced that trump is a god and not a conman....    and another 1/3 or so believed trump when he said eggs and gas were too expensive and he was going to bring those prices down.

Trump is a convicted felon. The Democrats shouldn't have had to campaign at all.

This is the single most unqualified candidate in the history of this country.

This is a baffling question. The answer is, the voters are stupid. They knowingly voted for a guy who told them he's going to burn the country down.

A lot of people are going to wake up with a very bad hangover after they realize what they voted for.

And that laughing emoji exactly explains the Trump supporters. I asked a serious question, that anyone and everyone who voted for Trump should have a list as long as their arm and all one of them could muster is a laugh. No explanation of what they see/saw as problems, just blind agreement that America has become the dreaded hellscape that Trump has them believing existed.
Man, you all are completely triggered by emoji reactions.   But back to your point which I will take a stab at, as I find it laughable you couldn’t find one single thing you wanted Biden to do differently.
1) Biden made the southern border an absolute s#!t show, and it looks to on purpose as there is no other explanation for that incompetence.
2) his Afghan withdrawl was let’s just say not the best plan

3) his administrations efforts to gaslight the country on inflation for over a year before finally acknowledging it as a problem probably cost him and other Dems an election along with the border fiasco.

4) Federal Covid shot mandates.
5) DEI focus vs Merit focus

6) Student Loan Forgiveness.   Moronic and you literally have posted about being against it.

7) Biden’s Iran deal

8 ) Biden’s massive debt.    It much different than Trump and Covid spending but you asked specifically about Biden and not what someone else would do.
9) UNRWA

10) Nordstream 2 gift to Putin

If you want more, I guess we can discuss further.

I don’t disagree with a couple of these. The student loan forgiveness was stupid. The issues with the border should have been taken seriously and addressed much sooner. I guess the problem I have is, even if I agreed with the rest of your list (which I don’t) none of these even in aggregate affect me enough to turn my eyes to Trump.

I have been doing well personally even as I didn’t like Biden or Harris or many dem policies. But I simply cannot see the hellscape vision of America that Trump laid out. And I’m smart enough to know that tariffs are going to make things cost more. Elections are almost always about the economy. DEI, loan forgiveness, covid mandates…none of that s#!t really matters. Only thing I can figure is there had to be just enough people doing poor financially to overcome all the many drawbacks of Trump and I just didn’t see it.

And while we’re on the subject for @Crusader Husker’s sake, so I don’t have to rehash my reply to him, Biden was a horrible severely aging candidate that should have stepped aside sooner and somebody much better than Harris should have ran. The dems are very good at beating themselves. But there is absolutely nothing that tells me Trump was a better option. The mfer isn’t qualified and shouldn’t have even been allowed back in the office. So yeah, it can be said that the electorate is stupid. Unfortunately our system is more reliant on partisanship and we have a severe dearth of actual qualified people seeking office.

I don’t disagree that the dems are missing something. Simply saying the electorate is stupid didn’t work and it won’t work going forward, no matter how true the belief may be. I really seriously don’t have an answer to your question. I have no idea how Trump beat anyone in an election in late 2024. I am baffled.

As I said in the other post and firmly believe, elections are about the economy. Usually it doesn’t even matter if it’s portions of the economy the incumbent has little to no control over. If something is hitting people in the pocketbook, the incumbent pays at the ballot box.  Inflation was getting under control and it’s onset was largely out of Biden’s control. Employment was good. The stock market was doing great.

So back to my original question to you. What disturbing hellscape did you see this country in that allowed a grifting, almost illiterate, convicted felon to be elected, again, after he demonstrated he didn’t know what the hell he was doing the first time and tried like hell to subvert an election and prevent the peaceful transfer of power? Please don’t answer with another question. We know the dems lost the election but how in the hell did Trump win it?

I am going to say what one of my good friends said when I asked him.  He is 100% a Dem.  We talked about a month after the election for about 2 hours while I was driving home from a track meet.  This is what he said.  I paraphrase

1)  The stupid wokeness stuff.  He said his son was leaving school for Thanksgiving break.  He is a teacher.  A fellow teacher said, Happy Thanksgiving, Oh wait, do you celebrate?  Oh, you look native American, oh, God, I am sorry.  Just have a good break.  He said, the common American is tired of this type of crap.

2)  For God's sake do something with the border.  The place is a disaster.  At least act like you are going to do something.

3)  He would agree with that Biden should have been moved out and Harris was a disaster.

4)  He thinks all of the good candidates for the Dems decided it was a sinking ship.  They stayed out.  He thought the election was lost months or years before the election.

5)  Dems have lost the super majority they had with minorities and union people.

6)  Did a horrible job with messaging on the economy and with crime.

Look he is as pissed as many people are.  There were many reasons I wanted Trump to lose.  But the number one might be that TDS would bear its head again.  The triggered reactions, Oh wait, I forgot that.  He said another thing was the triggered reactions of Dems on a bunch of stuff.  He said the Dem party needs to grow a pair of testicles and grow up.  I can't believe I forgot that!

Again, I hate Trump.  I just think Dems need to get the hell over it and figure out what to do.

I wanted to reply to this piece and yes I did read everything else.  More often than not you are correct about the economy dominating elections unless other world events happen…Covid, wars, etc…

However, in close elections where the economy wasn’t working for a whole host of people, things like getting fired because someone thought a Covid shot mandate was a good idea to help stop the spread of Covid and then it turns out the shots did not in fact help stop the spread is a big deal to those people.  They got fired from jobs for nothing.   People who saved and put off vacations, drive older cars, etc…to pay for kids college (or at least help pay) only to see other a$$h@!es but whatever they want and take out loans for dips#!t degrees only to have Joe forgive those loans is a kick to face for some voters.  America was built on Merit and now a President wanted to fundamentally shift to an everyone gets a trophy system and hire quota based, accept quota based in college, etc….enough people said that was bulls#!t.     That stuff did matter.

Had it not been for Covid, Trump would have cruised to re-election last time and thought he did an ok job.   I do wish he would have come through on more campaign promises however.

And outside of locking everyone down for longer, I really don’t see how Biden comes through covid any better than Trump did.  In fact, I believe the vaccines take longer to develop under a Democrat.

Trump wins with ease 4 years ago, no one doubts that.

What would be interesting is who would be President now?

Pence would have had ZERO shot because he is literally not a human, even if he does literally look like an AI President.

Thanks for the answers.

I’m not sure if I agree any or all of those explain it for me but I will let you know how I feel by bullet point.

1) Yes, some of the woke BS was out of hand. However, I struggle to tie it directly to Joe/Kamala or even dems at large. What I saw was Rs calling everything woke and b!^@hing about it non-stop. Other than that I can’t say I experienced any wokeness like your friend’s example. Yeah I got tired of hearing about it, and some of the stories of it seemed ridiculous. Only thing I can say is, the Rs complaining about it resonated and the Ds, like usual, failed to message any dispute.

2&3) Agree.

4) I don’t know if Ds stayed away because it was a sinking ship. I think it more likely that they just took the standard approach of planning to run the incumbent. And that bit them square in the a$$ when Joe started his mental decline and they simply didn’t have the time or a better candidate ready to go. Basically bad timing.

5) I won’t dispute this has happened but for the life of me I don’t get how Trump could appeal to minorities, the unions or working people in general. He is the epitome of the exact opposite of these folks with a whole bunch of distasteful heaped on top. Again it had to be messaging victory and had nothing to do with actual substance.

6) Agree. It was another messaging loss but not based on any reality. The dems have always sucked with messaging. I used to like that about them, when I was an R, before Trumpism and MAGA killed my preferred brand of conservatism.

I’ll offer what somebody I know very well felt. They were just fed up with Trump and Rs being attacked over everything. This person actually felt sorry for Trump, all the lawsuits etc. Even as they admitted he was a criminal idiot. The non-stop spectacle of it all was just too much for them. Add that to being traditionally an R fed up with a ridiculous situation at the border and some of the LGBTQ and woke stuff and that was enough to cause them to vote for the POS. It wasn’t enough for me I guess.

Who did you vote for?

Who did you vote for?
Chase Oliver.  I have voted libertarian.  I see myself doing this for the near future.  I think both parties care only about themselves and not the general public.  I actually watched it like I do the Super Bowl.  I didn't have a team in it, just wanted to see what will happen.

I was left with these questions.

Why were the polls so off again?

How and why are Dems losing so much of their base?

Only thing I’ll add here is that you obviously had a much bigger problem with Covid, mandates etc. than I did. IMO it was just a s#!tty once in 100 years situation that we had to make some adjustments to get through. Not every decision and course of action was right and, imo, your reaction to most of it strikes me as a bit fringe. It all kind of made sense to me but I’m pretty easy going and tend to roll with the punches. If a vaccine works, I’ll get it. If wearing a mask is presented as a way for me to help protect other people, I’ll wear one. And I can’t get upset about people being told they need to get vaxxed or lose their job because I chose to do it willingly. I told my employees, if they didn’t get vaxxed, I wouldn’t approve sick pay if/when they got Covid. That isn’t forcing them to do anything and it seemed like common sense to me. One guy refused to get vaxxed. He was likely already out of sick days anyway when he did contract covid. I’ve had it 4 maybe 5 times. First time before vax sucked. 2nd time was much better. Last 3 times basically nothing. Anyway you seem to put a lot of value on the Covid situation imo. Maybe it’s because you work in a healthcare related job?
