That's a tough premise to reconcile for me. Masks and vaccines are pretty easy to defend in the wake of a global pandemic where millions are dying and much remained unknown. In the light of a new day they are still far from insane and no doubt save lives. It's a petty strange equivalency to the buffet table of autocratic mandates the Trump administration is pushing. You could just as easily ask why those opposed to the "insane" Covid measures seem fine with heavy-handed and counter-productive restrictions being pushed by a President who wants the federal state to be more powerful than ever.
