What did we learn Indiana edition

Aside from it being a blowout, for me this win stings so bad because we lost to Illinois. Look at how Illinois beats Michigan today. We were maybe a missed field goal away from that one.

Our schedule is tougher than last year. It's still possible that we could pick up 2 - 3 wins. Rhule needs to stop looking so confused and get involved with the defense and go back to what was working last year, which is probably tighter coverage and more blitzing.

 
Our schedule is much weaker this year than last. 66 then, 74 now. We appear to actually suck. Nothing we have tried over the last decade has changed that fact. I am slowly coming to terms with the fact that we just might suck.

And maybe what Rhule used at Temple and Baylor won't work in the B1G.  Bielema struggled in the SEC, but had success in the B1G.  Yes, football is football, but conferences are different.

When Illinois hired him, I knew they will become a better team with him. I always wondered why we did not go after him. He was very successful at Wisconsin and he seems to know how to do more with less. Cignetti also seems to know what he is doing. His players seem to want to run through walls for him. I don’t see that same attitude with our team.

Revisionist history. Wisconsin never accepted Brett because his in-game adjustments were too little, too late. He also showed his character quitting before the Rose Bowl. He is not greener grass on the other side of the fence here. He is not that guy.

 
I would hope Rhule learned today he doesn’t have a competent coordinator in Satterfield. We were inept on offense against a team that we could have and should have beat.

If we don’t jettison Satterfield we’re going to lose Raiola to the portal.

Agree. Whether we finish 5-7, 6,-6 or somehow 7-5, the reality is that this years team is not really better than last year. Against BIG opponents, our D has taken a step back, the O is marginally better and special teams still stink.  We likely are only favored in one remaining game.

It was mentioned on BRO that Raiola may be the one who demands the change. But what a terrible spot to but a 19 year old kid in.  Also, that would be the sign of a horrible HC. Time for Rhule to put his big boy pants on and go what needs to be done.

100% agree.  We should be a run first team, with play action passing.  We should be stout defense, but that seems to have been lost.  No special teams play.  Identity is "same ol same Ol".  We should be better by now and we seem to always talk two steps forward and yes maybe 2 steps back.

 
Its still a talent issue, regardless if that offends fans or not.  We just don't have enough talent to compete week in and week out.  I don't think were that far off from being where we should be, but were still not there.  Pelini, Frost, and now Rhule just can't get enough talent here to make a major difference.......so is it coach related or program related?  Are we not selling this place and its history well enough to bring in better talent?  I personally still don't think we have hired the right coach to get this thing over the top.  Even if most don't like Prime, he is bringing a different kind of athlete to Boulder.

What is done is done and there is no turning back the clock. However, it is really getting frustrating that a team like Indiana with no real football history or tradition can get a coach who gets them to 7-0 in his first year and we have spent millions after millions and all we have to show for it is six losing seasons, no bowl appearances, and many embarrassments on national TV. I don’t believe in curses but it is starting to be the only logical explanation.

I think Rhule will lose some fan base if he keeps Satt and Foley.  I'd also lose McGuire and really really really evaluate Barthel.  Last year our running game was HH and this year we don't really have one.  And seems to miss manage the one that has better stats...

These kids were not even born when we a national power.  Selling history for losing over the last 5 to 10 yrs. will not work.
