Question:   When the ball ended up on the four yard line on the kick off and the player from Ill went out of bounds and touched the ball ,  why did the ball end up at the 35 yard line?

By rule, the ball was recovered out of bounds. It’s a really stupid rule.

Amart needs to see the field better but he definitely is a gamer as a runner 

i understand wandale played great down the stretch but it wouldve been great to see a bigger back in down the stretch so we couldve have potentially gone up two scores

I’ve seen that play in the NFL. I wasn’t surprised one bit by the play. It was a great job by the returner. By establishing himself out of bounds and catching the ball, the ball is out of bounds by rule.

Might not have a kicker all year. Just try to overcome it. The fumbling is a huge concern. Every hit I expected a fumble.

stupid rule

It makes sense to me. The ball isn’t touched in bounds and then the receiver establishes him OOB, and touches the ball, which makes the ball OOB.

Randall Cobb did it in a Packers game a few years ago; he stood with one foot in and one foot out, and picked the ball up. He knew the rule, and the Illinois player knew it too. I'm sure special teams players are made to be aware of it.
