We only ran 48 plays, so taking that into account the 423 yards and 34 points is actually pretty impressive. Definitely some things to clean up, but as many have said nice to be nit-picking a 31 point victory.
Anyone listen to the UNI coaches postgame conference? He obviously has earned better than this comparison with his career, but a lot of Scott Frost vibes.
- Mad about penalties called, specifically holding. Said "they (Nebraska) were doing the same thing" and (paraphrasing this one) everybody is holding on every run play, and it comes down to the ref with the flag and "where he's from."
- Said our running back was the problem (not sure which one he meant) - said Raiola is good, but the running back was the only real problem.
He mentioned the RB YAC, so that would be Rahmir or Emmett? I am not sure he realized that we played 4 RBs.
[*]"That game was winnable"
[*]Felt their OL is smaller but as strong and tough as our defensive front
Just not the typical "well we played tough, and that's a great team" you usually hear from opposing FCS or lower tier schools. They always have positives they take away, but he seemed legitimately pissed that they lost (probably why he's a great coach) and also capable of doing the same mental gymnastics I was doing while Frost was here turning blowouts into close losses and close losses into basically wins.
