What did we learn

We learned Mikai Gbayor can back up his words, despite being dogged by... whoever those guys in the studio were.

I am generally of the mindset that you don't knock the hornet's nest before you try to remove it. It generally creates poor consequences for what otherwise would have been a "will let you know, when you get here," put them in their place. But if you are going to come out like we did all first half, more power to him. He was not wrong. Almost like a more subdued, but public Dan Lanning and CU pregame speech. "Wish you the best," i.e. you aren't doing anything when you arrive.

I also learned remembered how astonishingly awful Big 12 referees are. Quite a few calls made against both teams were just atrocious (the Barney pancake block being called a hold is the first one that comes to mind, but I also remember thinking the roughing the passer call against Raiola was a bad call in real time but haven't seen a replay of it yet).

If this (the roughing the passer call) is the same one I am thinking of - the NBC expert ref said it shouldn't have been called roughing the passer. From his criteria of where Raiola was hit by the guy, I think he was correct. The issue I had with the call (where I agreed) was he took an extra step and had a clear lane to lay off him since the ball was gone. In that light it was a good call, IMO

I think it was a bad call, but I consider it a makeup call. I know they clarified the holding on the play before was actually Bonner and he does pull the guys jersey as he falls down. But they threw a lot of questionable flags so I don't mind one being in our favor.

The officiating was so bad that I forgot which call was the obvious make-up call. They called so many bogus penalties on Nebraska they decided to blatantly make up a penalty for Colorado.

Sorry, that doesn't make it any better. 

And what sucks is, there is zero chance the Big XII is going to do anything to that crew. I wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't the mandate from the head office. We saw it before, during the 2010 A&M game.

Go back and watch the whole play.  After the hit he gets hit again in the head while trying to get up.  Not sure if it was a knee or foot.  They showed it on the stadium big screen but not sure if a close up was shown on TV?  Pretty sure that is why the call was made.

I think I am done with PFF grades when TyRob got a 72.4 and Bullock got a 66.6.  Those 2 guys were causing havoc all night.

PFF has been very suspect from the beginning. How do we trust a black box approach to numeric grading what is difficult to impossible to objectively grade?

I think they gave Colorado's RB a higher score than Dowdell.  That doesn't make much sense.

One thing that is cracking me up a bit on highlight videos… is on the throw to Lloyd the non-Nebraska fans are saying it was not that good of a throw because he underthrew it. In their defense the highlights don’t always show the full play. But Raiola was being pursued by a defender and not only threw it 35 yards down field, but it was on the opposite 1/4 of the field. I would guess it was a throw that not many QBs can make, but also a great reception where the WR helped his QB. 

I'm not doubting the talent on that play, just the decision making.

Had that been somebody good, aka Ohio St, Michigan, that probably would have been a pick

I think they gave Colorado's RB a higher score than Dowdell.  That doesn't make much sense.  

Assuming you're talking about Hayden, that's probably about right.  They got almost exactly the same grade on running the ball.  But Hayden averaged more yards per carry and more yards per carry after contact.  Hayden also got credit for a breakaway run (15+ yards) while Dowdell didn't.  

Dowdell is fun to watch but he seems to be pretty limited as a back.  He's basically a one-trick pony: run as hard as you can and try to run over the first odd-colored jersey you see.  He did have the hurdle which was fun and broke one tackle in the second half (running left) and got some extra yards.  But, for the most part, he's been getting however many yards the OL blocks for.
