What did we learn

On paper, in terms of player talent, Colorado should have been an equal match-up. Maybe even better.

But boy, are they hopelessly outmatched in the coaching department...

I thought their defense was fast and physical.  Not as good as Nebraska’s by any stretch of the imagination, but probably a bit better than a lot of people give them credit for.   And, obviously they have incredibly gifted playmakers on offense.

Nebraska is just so much better in the trenches on both sides of the ball.  Which is an awesome thing to be able to say about a P5 opponent after years and years and years being outmatched there against most P5 opponents.

It's awesome to see actual player development after what we were subjected to with the previous coaching staff.

Oh man, this would have been the perfect game to sync with the radio call.

I know it's been mentioned, but Colt McCoy has to be the worst color commentator I've ever heard.

I liked Matt Davidson, but Benning is the man.
The morning show said that McCoy was hired to be a studio guy and was  upset bring forced into the color role Saturday night. Not sure if that’s true, but I don't think anyone wants to suck that much. Seems we put the Husker hex on him.

It is a hard job, I know we think that certain sports jobs are easy...

Coaching

Sports radio host

Color dude

Play by play dude

It is hard.  I coached and I sucked...in HS (we had our own radio and TV station) I "called" our basketball games, it is sooooo hard.  I was horrible at it.

I did play-by-play for a few Husker football and basketball games for KRNU when I was in college.

Legitimately one of the hardest things I've ever done. Most people don't realize the amount of preparation that goes into doing that job and doing it well. I ended up having other broadcasting-related aspirations and didn't stick with sports play-by-play, but seriously, the guys who do it well are so. damn. smart. And radio is a lot more difficult than TV from a play-by-play aspect just because you can't rely on any images and have to paint an entire picture from start to finish.

I mean...John is literally lined up to take away the slant.

I am not a huge DB fan (when it comes to coaching, dude is Coach-Talks-A lot) but that is just being lined up correctly and I coached JB, so he clearly did not learn that from me!  I would have had in the wrong spot.
Seems like Sanders should have audibled out of that, or looked to the near boundary where he had a guy running a hitch one on one and actually got good separation. He predetermined and panicked like DB said. Pretty low IQ play for a supposed 1st round pick.

You never throw wide side inside your 20 yard line.  That's Day 1 stuff.  And QB 101.

Sanders blew it.  Pressure got to his brain.
