Will HC Scott Frost make it through his full contract without getting fired?

Obvious troll thread he isn't going anywhere.  I do think he is going to have to adjust his scheme.  You are never going to have much success if the oline cant line up and run block when called for, you know, like the 3rd qtr yesterday.  A big reason pelini failed is that he refused to adapt his defensive scheme.  Scott is going to have the same problem on offense.  He is probably going to need to hire another d coordinator in the next few years too.

Frost's ceiling is still higher than any coach we've had since Frost himself was playing. But it is clear that it will take longer to get there, if we ever do. I'm as disappointed as anyone, but Frost is our guy, and we don't have anyone else.

I hate losing. I really f&#king hate CU. And I am struck with a deep sadness and fear that a return to glory may never truly come. But I still have more faith in Frost than in our last few coaches. But in addition to faith, we need patience. I struggle with that, as do most of us. Very unhappy right now, but its Frost or bust.

And this thread sucks, hope it gets locked.

He took over a roster that when you account for the number of kids that transferred would have ended up with like the 60th ranked recruiting class for a pro system. The team had 3 years of zero accountability in the weight room etc. We expected Frost to solve it all in a year.....a year....what NFL talent was Frost left with to work with? I drank as much koolaid as the next guy but my goodness. Frost is the right coach, he may have to do some shuffling with staff next season but we have seen a vast improvement on defense. If the offense could have sustained a couple drives they wouldnt have fallen apart like they did.

This topic is ridiculous if I'm being honest. The guy isn't going anywhere, we've been down this hire/fire road before, we don't need to travel down it again. Anyone that thinks Frost is getting fired needs to stop huffing paint in the garage. If Frost a born and raised Husker kid, who's whole life has revolved around Nebraska in some shape or form, won a N.C. here and was starting QB, can't get this thing going.............it's dead forever and no one can!
I completely agree.  He is the guy for the job.  Just because we've hit some rough patches in YEAR 1.2 the hyperbole and callouts for his job is ABSURD.

He is a strong leader and is building a culture that was trashed for too long.  As others have mentioned, it took Osborne a while to build what was needed for national prominence.  Give. It. Time.

The O-Line will need recruiting upgrades.  Martinez isn't seeing the field well right now.  Receivers are not consistently available.  And our running game needs more identity which just may not come this year.

The D feels way ahead of last year.  At 6 thousand feet, they were certainly gassed late in the game.

This will be a process.  I believe we'll be back.  It will take some time.

I just feel like an idiot because I know the way football works, I've watched Thursday through Monday games for 30+ years now. If you would have told me Ohio State was starting a bunch of young kids all over, a but of first timers on the Oline, a center who has only played the position for 6 months, I would have automatically assumed they were out of contention for the year but watch out for next year. However, I was so drunk on kool aid that when you told me it was my own team built of primarily 3 to low 4 star guys, I threw out every ounce of knowledge I have about how that actually looks from a non-fan perspective and stupidly thought we are some how special and won't take our lumps.  Well, these are the kind of teams that take their lumps.  I had hoped that Scott was some sort of Saban^4 but he's mortal. There is no mistaking him as a great coach, he is that.. And Martinez is a great QB.. You don't lose all cred due to a bad game or two, but ya.. I need to do better of looking at things objectively as if I didn't bleed the reddest of red. GBR.

Good post mate +1

I don't disagree with a lot of what you're saying. However, I think people forget Saban took a lot of lumps as a HC before Bama. His first 4 years at MSU were basically 6-6 before a 9 win 5th season. Most people also remember his poor NFL experience. Saban's one of the best to coach in college football, but he had 12 years of HC experience before Bama hired him.

This Frost isn't a good coach sentiment is felt on other boards as well it looks like. I have the feeling Frost will want to prove the doubters wrong.

Yes, he will. It's too early to talk about this.

And trust me, I'm as down on him about yesterday as the rest of you, but this thing is a long way from being played out.

Last year was year 0

This year is year 1. This is how I see it.

Many great teams have had head-scratching early losses before. Example OSU to VT in 2014, Texas to Maryland last couple years, Wisconsin to BYU and many more teams that have these. However, the season is not yet over so it is time to see how they respond. I bet we can play up to our potential against good teams. Conversely, it looks like we continue to play down to our competition as well.

Frost will get this thing moving in the right direction. Remember we are a young team at many spots. So it will take a few games to get the kinks worked out. Too many people want results early, but it is going to take time. This team was a dumpster the last few years and we still haven't gotten over that losing hump. I trust Frost to get it done. We just need to work on finishing and we will be alright.

It's like it's 1996 again...

It's kinda eerie actually. His first start at QB was a home win where the defense was lights out and masked a fairly pedestrian performance on his part. His second start (and first road start) was an unmitigated disaster (ASU). The rest of that season turned out okay, well, except for one game we won't talk about, but that wasn't his fault at all.

Then there was the Central Florida mess the next year.

I'm sure Scott would be used to it by now.... as a player he always seemed to respond to it pretty well though. I hope as a coach he does the same thing.

Coach Osborne is continuing to mentor him through these tough times.  I'm grateful Coach O is still around as he was no stranger to critics.

Today's expectancy to win landscape has changed timelines but not overall pressure fundamentals; big school with rich tradition...the fans expect a lot.

Scott is the guy.  We will be okay, but maybe not as quickly as some expected or want.
