You are a bad fan

^^^

I don't understand the continued defiance when it is so dead to rights that you said some inappropriate, on the verge of nonsensical stuff last night (hopefully while in an inebriated state) to people who put in so much time and effort to this message board because of their LOVE for Husker football. Many of us make rude comments at times, but I know myself and many others have the tact to realize our errors and apologize (as annoying as our resident Packer/socialist member is, I've apologized when I have crossed the line with him (winky face)). Maybe you have done so via PM, but this attitude is just nonsense and any amount of remorse/acceptance goes much further.

I lost all respect I had for either of you after that ridiculous tantrum last night. That was inexcusable from grown adults. Both of you have latched on to an offhand comment that had nothing to do with the topic of a thread, you forced the Mods to do extra, unnecessary work, you persist in your delusions and you chewed out other Mods for doing their jobs.

Someone turned off the television and followed the rest of the game on Twitter. Your reaction to that was completely uncalled-for.
I can't think of a more tired argument then "I'm a better fan than you" because you can actually delude yourself into thinking change is imminent when none of the inputs are different.

Nebraska fans are supposed to be better than this.

I could care less if a fan wants to leave the game early or turn the channel because they are done with it. Last night, who could blame them? I chose not to turn the TV off. I did stand outside on the final drive because, well it worked against Ohio State in 2011, thought maybe I could conjure up some karma magic by sitting outside on a cooler. Did not pan out.

The fans that left early in 2010 when Texas embarrassed us weren't in the wrong. It was a poor showing by the team and frustrating for attendants. I was among them. We missed a TD but inevitably the game was still a loss. Fans that left early in 2013 during the NW game missed a miraculous hail mary win. Must hurt to know they could have stayed for the celebration.

Bottom Line: Leaving early or turning the channel doesn't make anybody less of a fan. It just means their tolerance for disappointment differs from those who choose to endure painful games til the end be it in person or on TV/Radio. It's okay either way really. Doesn't effect the outcome of the game one way or another. But honestly if your going to be done with the game the last thing you should want to do is go on the message board and tell everyone how your done knowing full well it's going to start a big "I'm a better fan" debate. We are all fans, except Polo who hates everything good and only listens to Creed.

The irony of course is that I'm an alum and a member of two fan/alum groups. Some just expect better.

Anyone who gets mad at the fans instead of the real systemic issue here is so seriously misguided I'm half convinced they'd point a rifle the wrong way.

I guess I am not in the norm. I understand the frustration and wanting to just get away from it because we have seen it over and over again.

I was a little surprised to see this from Knapp... He struck me as a bit more of a cool-headed fan, that wouldnt just shut the TV off and walk away in the first half. I shared said opinion that maybe was too aggressive because of my own frustrations with the game.. but i stand by with what I said.

I understand that when the team plays soooo bad, you just cant take it.. But i guess my style has always been to not just walk away from a team that i love. Not saying I love the Huskers more than the next guy.. I have never been they type to leave early or stop watching.

I grew up cheering for the Vikings and am use to underachieving...

So........I turned off the dvr at halftime and erased the first half recording. Then I called in an order of wings and went to pick them up during the third quarter. Oh, I better also mention that I missed about the first eight plays of the game because I was picking up my daughter from her school sporting event. Anyhoo, after getting the wings, I returned home and watched the remainder of the game. Worst. Fan. Ever. So knapp can suck it, following on Twitter, pfttt. What I did would send minny and Q over the top.

What flavor of wings and from where?

Mango Habanero from Dominos. Woulda went for better wings but they're quick and the mango hab is pretty darned good there. The actual wings themselves sometimes aren't the best though.

I've got to tell you guys exactly how it went for me last night, but I will admit I have shut off TWO games in my life.

Last night in the third quarter my fiancé says let's turn this off and just enjoy the rest of the night. I told her I couldn't do it. My words were something like "these guys are still fighting out there". Now the only two games I shut off in the past were literally only the couple of times where I've actually seen Nebraska give up. It looked to me like the guys quit playing. I've always thought hell if they don't care then what the f#*k do I care so damn much for? Last night there was no way I could quit watching 'cuz I could tell some of the guys on offense and definitely the BLACKSHIRTS were battling.

So anyway, I can speak for myself and say I can see both sides of it. I'm just glad I kept tuned in. It was almost one of the greatest comebacks ever. Damn....so close.

I left my buddie's place in Lincoln yesterday during the 3rd quarter. Believe it was after we fumbled the snap on fourth down. Why waste my time watching complete ineptitude? Does that make me a bad fan? I'm guessing it does. Of course, I turned the game right back on when it was 27-16, because I repeatedly made the comment that this game is exactly like 2009 Missouri, and I wanted to be right. Plus, an epic comeback against MSU of all teams to secure our first win against a road team in the time I've been a fan (ouch, that hurts to think about) plus staying undefeated on the night where so many major teams lost. TCU jumped from 25 to 9, think where Nebraska could be right now. 8? 7?. That hurts to think about too.

Fans should have expectations. Fans should have the right to voice their displeasure with results. And we've been at that point for awhile now where it's crazy to think we won't do anything besides lose against the big teams. We'll have maybe 2 more chances to make a statement this year: @ Wisconsin and potentially against Michigan State in the B1G championship.

But for now, one game at a time and shame on you all for making too big a deal out of this.

I turned it off midway through the 2nd quarter and did homework while checking the score every 10 mins or so. When it was 27-9 I started checking a lot more often.

I can tolerate watching us play bad, but I don't feel that makes me any better of a fan.

I keep thinking if I CAN turn off the TV, maybe it will have a beneficial effect on our team, but I'm too stubborn or selfish to try it out....I did keep changing TVs and tried watching upstairs in the Master bedroom and then back to the living room to no impact...

I also wandered out to the restrooms at Sun Devil Stadium when we went behind ASU 19-0 the last game I went to....and meandered rather than rushing back to my seat...thinking it might help.

I for one, want to thank Knap for taking one for the team and probably is the main reason we almost made a comeback...If I would have been as selfless, we probably would've won.
