If you set the expectation at 10 wins then Bo has failed to meet expectations 50% of the time. Better to stick with 100% success.

At least I can admit my bias. I'll play along.

What I assume is a Husker "fan", makes a snippy comment about a single writer for picking the team he follows to win the league they play in. He didnt know which writer so its not biased towrds the writer. Its bias towards the team he follows, and not in a good way. By saying a writer is a dumbass for picking Nebraska to win the conference, its essentially saying you have no faith in the coaching staff and or players. Thats fine if thats tbe attitude you choose to take. I would assume that is resentment for the past 6 years failing to meet up to his own personal goals. Hence bias.

Yeah honestly. What effect Bill Callahan has on the success of a Nebraska team at this point is essentially zero. It's a tired excuse.

Or the fact that those in the know realize that the rebuild job Bo had to perform was much more difficult and more involved than simply changing the guy carrying the clipboard, thanks to how crapahan and pedersuck did their best to destroy the program.

Personally, it will be a very disappointing season if we end up 3rd. I expect us to be much better than that this year. For the life of me, I honestly can not see why people are so high on Iowa this year. And, don't give me the crap about "they beat us last year". That game has nothing to do with this year.

This is the only year since Bo started that almost everyone is in agreement with where we are predicted. I guess that can be attributed to lowered expectations which makes me sick to my stomach. Does anyone know why Nebraska loses? I mean, if someone did, wouldn't it be solved by now? It seems every time we lose, it's because we are on some entirely different roller coaster of craziness. Either way, if I had to attribute losses to ourselves or to the opponent, I'd say more times than not by far, we are our own problem. It's an interesting task to try to fix. There's a multitude of issues.
Bo's teams lose four games every year. Not debatable. Pointing that out, or pointing out how ridiculous we look sometimes, doesn't mean you have the answers, it just means you would like to see it fixed. I'm sure the staff is trying, but forgive me those who disagree, Bo has done nothing in his history of coaching to establish himself as some elite coach. He's a young first time Head Coach with a young inexperienced staff for the majority of his career here, and by no stretch, not by a long shot, is Bo done learning. This is the road you travel when you go the route of hiring a first time Head Coach.

If you're gonna start somewhere though Polo, in your coaching career at Nebraska, I'd start with finding a way to resolve the turnover issue. However you go about fixing that, I think it guarantees you #2lesslosses

Edit: oh, and special teams......but ya, it can't be difficult to put a better special teams unit on the field than what we saw last year. Talk about a lack of commitment.

What seems like a lifetime ago, somebody suggested that successful coaches and/or programs don't take a backwards step now and then.

Crazy talk. Take any six seasons by any coach and it's rarely a path of continuous progress. At least not as measured in wins and losses. sh#t happens. Players get hurt. Adjustments don't always take. New systems are always a work in progress. Schedules get tougher or easier. Every coach needs room to fail, like every entrepreneur.

Then again, take any six seasons and you also have a pretty fair representation of a coach's strengths and weaknesses. Bo Pelini's teams have looked remarkably ill-prepared for way too many games, including a few they managed to win. That's on the head coach. Bo Pelini is in the hot seat for a good reason. His defense between 2011 and the first half of 2013 was almost as inexcuseable as Cosgrove's. And then in the second half of 2013, the defense seemed to find their feet. Sometimes they even looked excellent. That's something to build on. So is an offense with most of the skill positions returning, including a Heisman candidate, one of the best wide receivers in Husker history, and a Quarterback or two who can only be better than the three headed beast we had to trot out last year. Behind a patchwork offensive line.

See? That's called hope. Hope is nice. And hope can't be crushed until the games are actually played.

Long way of saying Bo Pelini deserves his 7th Season.

But it better be good.
