People still use facebook?

I don't think I have looked at it in two years. Twitter and Snapchat. I don't ever use Instagram either
Facebook just went over the 2 billion mark.

Yeah, I heard that. I wonder how many are dead accounts and I know, just from teaching, that if you are in high school or younger you do not use facebook, in fact, they hate it because their parents use it...so to them it is lame. So if I mention facebook in class that is the response I get "People still use it?!"

It is like smoking...you gotta get them started young! haha

Unscientific study...in the last 3 years when I have asked all my classes if they use facebook I got one response with a "yes, I do" and a few that said, "I have an account just to play games on my phone but facebook is for old people"

Snapchat has done an amazing job building themselves up from just something that kids used. Twitter, well, hopefully they can figure it out.

Some of us older folks still do.

Ha...I am old too!

I just know that it seems to be dying out with the younger crowd. Like, does any recruit list their top 5 on facebook?

With that said, I gotta go check my MySpace page really quick

Just because young people use it less doesn't mean people are using it less.

Back 10-20 years ago it mattered a lot more what people age 14-25 were using because I believe younger people made up a bigger proportion of internet users. E.g. I had to teach my mom how to do everything, starting when I was 14.

Great points!

There's a lot of correlation! I've also noticed a lot of people:

1) Lose their dog or spot a 'missing dog'

2) Have a *insert tool or household item here* for sale

3) Saw a suspicious figure doing suspicious things in a suspicious way at pretty much any hour of the day
In fairness to your neighbors, I wouldn't want to see you jerkin' in the bushes neither.
They should look at it as a privilege.
I am considering buying an old windowless van just to drive around my neighborhood at night...I feel like some of the NextDoor users would appreciate having a topic to worry about. I might even slow down at certain houses for a few moments, turn off the lights, then speed off.
Put on a clown suit too. People have forgotten about the killer clowns of '16 already.

That internet hoax? Man...I should do that...although I did just see a trailer for a movie about the Ice Cream Man: Suburban Nightmare

Maybe I could do that.

I'm a grown man! Why the hell would I care about what high schools kids do, or don't do with their lives! (Heads over to the recruiting forum)

I'll have to track down some recent numbers, but we're constantly looking at social media usage data at my work to design our ad campaigns. Snapchat is (obviously) super popular among current teenagers and it dwindles in popularity as you go up in age. Instagram is also a pretty big hit. Heck, we created a Snapchat geofilter for a recent high school event we hosted and it had over 25,000 views.

Facebook is an interesting platform, though. I'll be interested to see if the youngest generation gravitates toward it more or not as they get older, because right now, I still think it's the best platform for 1) finding people and 2) keeping up with important friends/family in your life and 3) planning events.

Hey, I'm not really interested in the details here
default_biggrin.png
Sorry, I don't like getting my details from a group of posters who routinely hound others with opposing views until they concede their opinion out of spite or quit posting. To each their own though.
And this shows the ignorance. Conversations routinely end with disagreement. I've agreed to disagree with LL. Zoogs and Moiraine routinely do with JJ and BRI. BRB and myself have said we agree with something Trump did and nobody jumped down our throats. And I'm not very eloquent in getting my thoughts out

And some times people tlget confused by that. If your logic is flawed or someone can't understand, expect to get flak, you can take that criticism and learn, or leave it.
You sure enjoy throwing that ignorance line out as a way to call people stupid then claim it's not an insult.

And the reason you don't get sh#t on is because you are normally in that group doing the pooping. More power to ya man.

25,000 views? Wow, that is impressive!

Snapchat seems to be getting popular with older people too but that could also make the younger people start to hate it!

You sure do like to be the victim. Ignorance is not an insult, and it is not calling someone stupid. It simply means you don't know something. I'm ignorant about a lot of things like anybody else.
You are clearly ignorant of a lot of the going ons in P&R. That's ok though. I'm just shinning light on what you haven't seen yet. If you recall I've defended your opinions in there before when they were pretty unpopular. I don't get sh#t on because I'm willing to discuss my position, not back away when I'm challenged. I've been made took look foolish plenty of times in there, but I enjoy the debates and the learning that comes with it.

Dissecting an argument isn't "pooping on" someone.

Though, perhaps the same couldn't be said for bagging on others for "jumping to conclusions" and "hounding others". It's funny how those who like to be the one landing punches can perceive themselves as bullied when others push back on the barbs.

It may not be clear all the time and I do apologize if it's not, but disagreement on points is not personal.
