Osborne stepped down after 1997 enjoying god-like status. Back in 1977 Husker nation was ready to nail him to a cross—and not because he was thought to be the son of god.

As for now, BC’s job would be easier if Osborne was more supportive of him.

How the hell does the AD promote it? Are they holding anti-frank rallies that I missed? It's an indisputable fact that recruiting was in the toilet in Franks later years. Talking about it doesn't mean people are bashing Frank. Fact is fact.

Also, just because some guy does one thing for 20 years doesn't mean he deserves a hand for anything. I know plenty of people that have been doing the same thing for ages. Doesn't mean they are good at it or deserve some kind of parade. As a matter for fact I know a guy at work that's exactly that way. He leans on the fact that he's worked at the same place for 18 years. Not any of his accomplishments. Just that he exists. It's lame.

Frank did some good things while he was here. Bank your argument on that, not that fact that he was here forever.

My original question was: Can someone continue to support Frank Solich over Bill Callahan and still be a true Husker fan—that is, want what’s best for NU?

My whole point is that I don't think those who continue to worship Frank Solich--wearing green to Husker games and such--have NU's best interests in mind. I guess since the couple of resident Solichistas here decline to carry the flag on this, this thread (and hopefully the topic) is officially dead. :)
