Coombs has been DC for 9 games. Austin OL coach for 30+, Held 30+, Verduzco 30+....... Day ready to make a change after seeing Coombs perform (or not) for only 9 games. Day doesn't like what he sees. After 9 games. I am wondering why after 30+ games, Frost hasn't really done anything to demand expectations be met. He fired/let go Walters after 2018. First year, new team, trying to instill culture, I could see Frost not firing anyone.Your statement clearly stated that he has one loss.... a bad FOUR quarters- implying that he is ready to make the evaluation based on that one game. My point is he is using a much larger sample size over the course of more than this year to evaluate. I state that this isn't comparable to Nebraska because Ohio State has their pick of just about any player nationally. They can scoop up 4 and 5 star kids at will. Day and his coaches also stepped into a program that was performing at an extremely high level. His D coaches took something really good and made it bad while we are trying to take something that was horrible and make it really good. Our defensive progress leads me to believe they are well on their way. I agree with Day, it's time for him to evaluate his staff.
This really isn't hard to see if you can remove the emotion. I get it, your pissed but drawing baseless conclusions about how a top 5 program operates vs Nebraska isn't realistic and hasn't been for over 10 years.
I see improvement on the receivers side, but is that coaching? Development? Or the fact that Toure is legit. Taking emotion out of it, this staff has some serious issues in year 4. Running game (aside from busted plays) is anemic. OL blocking.....ST's.......Theres no emotion in those observations.
