  • Why can't it be Super Bowl Saturday?  I would feel much better on Monday morning.

100% agree with this.  Would love a SB Saturday

If I ever run for office I will have 3 items on my platform:

    1) Super Bowl on a Saturday

    2) Independence Day on the first Thursday in July and turn the following Friday into a "holiday" like Black Friday (The Declaration of Independence wasn't actually signed on July 4th like everyone wants you to believe.  It was originally adopted on July 2nd and many didn't sign it until August.)

    3) Trick or Treating always the last Saturday in October

Yeah, I mean if they insist on having an empty weekend in between then why not Saturday?

Darn it.  I kind of liked them.

at first i was like WTF?   then i kind of started liking them as they didn't give me as much problem with night time glare when driving.

I just tried filing my car up with gas. The pump wouldn’t keep running without me holding it. I couldn’t do it. I would have had frost bite before it was full. This cold sucks.

Sounds like my Buick Skylark when I was 16

But man, I had cool wheels and a pull-out CD player  :woo

Man i forgot about the pull out cd payers.  I remember when my brother paid over 600 bucks to have a cd player installed back in the day.  Prices are much much less

    @Stone Cold In-dash CD players !!!  :horns

It was LIT when you could pull the front face off and tuck above your visor "for safety purposes" lol....   And yes, the player with 10's and tweeters and installation was ridiculously expensive back then...... I did it to my Skylark, then my Mazda RX7 (rotary engine), then my 4x4 pickup truck, etc, etc....  :w00t

Damn…my lawn looks nice after I mowed it.

@admo Yep, did it again two nights ago.  It's so dry I only have to mow once per week right now.  I need to up the watering.  Getting some pretty dry areas.

@BigRedBuster Same.  We could use some rain. It's that time of summer, when my lawn looks like astro turf Hay lol. Thank goodness the shade from trees show some green here and there

So, UNL graduation today. There’s a clear bag policy. My daughter forgets and brings a small clutch purse. At the gate, they take her purse, put it in a gallon zip lock bag and give it back to her to carry in. Please explain the purpose.

That sounds like a bit from Candid Camera.

Is she sure they weren't just messing with her?  :laughpound

@funhusker No, the lady was as serious as can be.  My daughter literally, walked around the corner, took her purse out of the zip lock bag and threw it away.  I am still absolutely dumbfounded by the thought process here.

I've sat here and giggled about this for a solid 3 minutes now.

    Super Bowl Halftime Show

The entire discussion around this is ridiculous.  Yes, it was different this year than other years.  It appealed to a different crowd that some others.  Great.

What I find irritating is people who are saying..."this is what it should have always been".  Well....sorry to disappoint you, but there are lots of different generations that watch the Super Bowl and they probably try to appeal to various age groups in different years.

Next year might be totally different and that's fine.

The funny ones are the people claiming...YEAH....they finally appealed to a younger crowd.  Hmmmm....artists from the 90s???  If you're saying that...you're no longer part of the "younger crowd".

Instead of older farts like me complaining about these shows we should simply feel sorry for those of you who had to endure growing up on this music  :P

@BigRedBusterif it was up to me I would have a hard/classic rock band perform every halftime show because that’s what I prefer to listen to. I’ve gotten tired of the R&B we’ve seen perform over the past 5-10 years so it refreshing seeing something different this year because it’s something I prefer over from what we’ve had the previous years.

I agree @Apathy  This rap/hip hop show was certainly better than the jock face Weekend type show. And, like Mastadon said, better than some bro country. I can’t really complain anymore because most of the music acts I prefer are using walkers or dead. My time is over, it was a good run

Watched the end of the 1997 Missouri game.  I was always impressed with Corby Jones.  Looked him up....seems to be a lawyer with his own practice.  Good to see him successful.

Mizzou has sneakily had a run of really good QBs.  You mentioned Jones but after him, they had Brad Smith, Chase Daniel, Gabbert, James Franklin and then Drew Lock.  Not too shabby.

Corby Jones, Brad Smith, Chase Daniel, Phil Bradley etc - all those guys were real good.  I been watching old video clips/games.

Corby Jones gave a glimpse into what a solid dual-threat QB can do against a team with an amazing pass rush.  Wistrom, Kelsay, and Rucker were used to teeing off against statue QB's.  Jones was able to extend the play a few times and hit big pass plays in 1997, and the NU defense was so frustrated from having to chase him around all day.

I also remember in the '97 game against Washington when NU knocked out UW's starting QB (Brock Huard maybe?) and Marques Tuiasosopo came in and was much more effective as a dual-threat guy against the Blackshirts.

I don’t remember this play. Great story about the game.

That's awesome. I don't recall that play or ever hearing that story from Cory before.

I still don't understand how Corey's brain isn't scrambled. Dude was one of the hardest hitting players ever.

I would like to know what the heck I googled to start seeing the ad for the virtual sex game.

Wouldn't it??? Especially since I'm stuck with it...

YES!!!!  I have a new hero.  This has been a major problem in our society for a long time and it's time to stop it.

@ZRod I'm guessing it all depends on the part of Mexico they come from.  I live in an area with a lot of Mexican immigrants and a lot of authentic Mexican Restaurants.  It's interesting that you can tell where the family is from running the restaurant by the type of food they serve.  Some have burritos and some don't.  And...they are quite different than the American burritos I grew up with.  The ones that serve burritos more are more central to southern but not on the coast.  Like around the Guadalajara area.

Well, not to belabor the point but Chinese food isn't really Chinese either it's what the "Chinese food" Anglo's want to eat.

Mexico is kind of a big country and food will be regional. I've been into ceviche lately and depending on where it is from it can be shrimp, fish, cocktail sauce in it (gross), or not.

As a kid, I remember when the migrant workers would come work beets in the summer, after we got done setting water we'd stop in to chat, and they'd offer me tacos. I came to realize that a taco could be just about anything in a small tortilla. I'm pretty sure I had a spaghetios taco one day.....and it was delicious!

Very few of the ethnic food restaurants we eat at are really the food of the people that live in those cultures.
