Gameday Info for Lincoln Visitors

Hey y'all,

Visitor here - headed to town next weekend from Denver for the Husker / Wisco game!

Seems like the parking info for tailgating is difficult to find. Is there a good public spot that's open for tents, grills, beers, cornhole, etc.? Like a park or field or something? Saw something online about Haymarket Park as being a good option but then the maps seem to say the lots are for donors.

What do y'all recommend? We don't necessarily need to be with other Wisco fans - heard Husker fans are pretty fun...thoughts? Something grill- and beer-friendly...

We're totally unfamiliar with Lincoln - any details that could help us find these spots would be awesome...

Thanks y'alls!
Denver huh? Wanna pick me along the way?

We have a group of 10 coming to Lincoln next week as well. This thread has been perfect explaining everything so thank you for that. The tailgating as the previous Badger poster talked about is somewhat confusing though. And can the "cup rule" be explained in more detail - Thanks

Ok - sounds like a plan. And thanks for the comment on our site. If you are ever going to be visiting another B1G school for a weekend, take a look on the site or shoot me a PM/EMAIL and I can give you pointers. And next weekend, I hope to run into many of you as our group is beyond excited for the trip to Lincoln.

Be sure to come back and let us know how your trip went, I always like hearing visitors opinions and stories.

Where To Get Tickets

(Sellers and scalpers, although you're a fool if you buy from a scalper)

Any other suggestions? What do you want to know about when you travel to an away game?
I read some answers to this on locations for scalpers. But I have a few specific questions. How many tickets are usually available on gameday and do they run well below market value? - I know where I live, due to high prices at Yankees games, we usually scalp tickets for half price or make a trade outside the stadium. I know NU has a long streak of sold out games, so I am leaning towards playin it safe and spendin a few extra bucks on buying tickets beforehand.

If you guys got any tips or tricks with tickets or anything else I'd love the feedback.

Really excited to have found these forums and hopefully soon get a taste of what the NU tradition is all about up close!

DO NOT buy tickets from scalpers. Folks with accents that don't blend in with local Nebraskans are a dead giveaway. You will get gouged by the scalpers, big-time. They are professional scalpers who ply this area of the country, hitting Husker games, Kansas City sporting events, St. Louis events, etc. Don't buy tickets from anyone with a pre-printed sign, and don't buy them downtown unless you're absolutely sure they're a fan.

Your best bet is to head to the West side of Memorial Stadium, along Stadium Drive, and try to find tickets there. You will be more likely to pay closer to face value the closer you get to the stadium. Scalpers aren't allowed on UNL property, so that may help. Tickets to bigger games like this almost never go for less than face value. I would expect to pay $20 or more higher than face value, with that number diminishing the nearer you get to game time.

To everyone, regarding the Cup Rule - I was told last week that this is changing, and they're going to crack down on Cups starting with this game (Wisconsin). Fair Warning.

@knapp

Thanks a lot. Going to play it safe and buy tickets on stubhub tonight. Any seating area you'd suggest? I was lookin at lower sideline for the michigan game at about ~$250. Not many left to choose from mostly endzone seats are the last ones left

I sit in the end zone, 85 rows up, and they're decent seats. The end zones are fine, and if the money is better, I'd take those.

Too low on the sidelines and you're going to miss some of the game from being behind the players. I think each sideline has A,B, C & D rows, and those are named that way (rather than numbered) because the team obstructs your view.

I haven't been to a game for just over a decade and I was young back then. My question is, in front of the stadium (west side) isn't there a place for fans to openly walk into and out of and view the championship trophies and what not? Is there any other cool sights in or around the stadium I can see and snap a couple pictures at? Suggestions are much appreciated...

Also, I am sitting behind the NU bench and have seats in row B, is it hard to see the field from those when the team is crossing midfield?

Thanks!

GBR
