NBA Arguments Tangent Thread

Yeah, I edited the post.... And yeah, Jordan had people score 40+ on him dozens of times in his career. Imagine that.

And it wasn't a tank job. The best player in the series played 12 minutes on the series because of injury. Come on. Have an honest conversation about it.
Which players scored 50 on MJ in the playoffs?

Which players scored 40?

and again, why did GS with their full line up that won a lot (Pre KD) not shut down KL and the raps?

I mean, Durant is the second best player of his generation (behind LeBron), so his inclusion is kind of important.

And you're twisting my words, I never said Curry would "school Jordan", or that he was better. I said he could outscore him on a given night, which is just true. Curry is capable of putting up 50 any night. So, on a given night? Absolutely.

Steph has never scored 50 on ANYONE in the playoffs but he's just going to be able to drop 50 on maybe the best defensive 2 of the last 30 years

And then you post this:

Nobody benefits from people's selective memory more than Jordan and his basketball career.

I said Steph is capable of scoring 50 on those Bulls. And he is. I didn't say "oh he's going to go out there and score 50 on Jordan".  I mean, Jordan had 50 plus scored on him twice, and 40 plus another dozen or so times.... I'm going to assume the best shooter of all time is capable of doing it.... A rookie, Iverson, cooked him for 44 in Jordan's prime.

And you know the statement about Jordan is true. As great as he was, he's become mythical. It happens....

I mean, none if it really matters now.

KD just got smoked, at home, in a game 7.

Smoked? Durant scored 48 points and on the last shot of the game, when every Buck knew what was coming, KD drained a jumper that tied the game and was millimeters away from being the game winner. Kyrie Irving wasn't playing. James Harden was injured an ineffective. Durant played all 53 minutes.

But I knew you'd love that airball.

Come on man, they were at home, favored and lost to a team that LOVES losing in the playoffs.

Then they get it to OT with an amazing shot have all the momentum and KD goes 0/4.  They score two points.

Don't get me wrong, he had an amazing game and I made money off of him.  But coffee is for closers.

Ah, so now you've resorted to citing regular-season games where Jordan barely even guarded Iverson as evidence.  Nice.

The Nets were favored -- slightly -- until both Harden and Kyrie were injured. Sorta like the Cavaliers weren't favored the year Kyrie and Love went down, and the Warriors stopped being favored when both Klay and Durant went down. (that was actually a much better Raptors team than you're suggesting.)

Michael Jordan also failed in 9 of 15 playoffs when surrounded by lesser talent.

There are definitely Durant haters out there. I was really rooting against Brooklyn all year. But you are one of the few people insisting he's not an all-time great.

I like KD and sure he is an all time great but who cares, that is not the discussion we were having.

Nets were favored last night, that never changed.  at one point they were -3.5 favorites.

Either way it doesn't matter now.  It would be a fun series and most people think the Bulls would win it.

Why didn't Jordan shut him down?! Right, Teach? I was under the impression those 90's guys brought it every night. No?

Does Barkley lighting them up in the Finals count? Or is their a caveat there too?

I've resorted to making reasonable comparisons. Not opinions based on childhood bias.

And I'm one of them. Definitely not a fan of Durant, but his talent is undeniable.

Jordan is probably the GOAT, but the way people remember him now has become mythical. Teach is critical of Durant for missing a game winning jumper, as if it never happened to Jordan. Hell, Jordan missed a game winner in the Finals (Gasp!) ! This conversation has become laughable at this point.
