Netflix & streaming video stuff worth watching

I’ll prob sound like a lunatic here.

I thought Rings of Power was good enough to try S2. Like a 6/10. It’s been boring as hell. I’m actually skimming most of it and doing that, I caught a funeral in Numenor (I think - the human city) and during the funeral they talked about “the white shores and the far green country.” They were basically quoting exactly from Tolkien.

I am not a book purist at all, I’ve read it once. But it pissed me off just based on the movies so I did some googling and this line was from a dream Frodo had at Tom Bombadil’s and if I understand right was about the afterlife.

But the real reason the show scene annoys me so much is this is my favorite scene in the movie series. And the implication with their dumbass scene is that this is not a wise, authentic Gandalf line. This is just some funeral rite he stole from the Numenorians and passed off to Pippin as his own wisdom. Not only that, those humans can’t know what the afterlife or Valinor or whatever looks like. Gandalf has logical reasons to know, even though the line isn’t actually his in the books.

PIPPIN: I didn't think it would end this way.

GANDALF: End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it.

PIPPIN: What? Gandalf? See what?

GANDALF: White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise.

PIPPIN: Well, that isn't so bad.

GANDALF: No. No, it isn't.

On a related note, based on estimates, Wheel of Time has more viewers than Rings of Power, on 10% of the budget ($100MM per season instead of $1 BILLION), so I wish they had just never done Rings of Power now that both are probably going to be cancelled after season 3. Although Amazon may trudge on with Rings of Power just to try not to embarrass itself. It's not like they can't afford it.

I've had it 3 years and no complaints.

I mean, I could easily complain.  But why do that on a beautiful Thursday?

I'll save that for Mondays and Tuesdays  chuckleshuffle

Probably, I have no idea.  I watch it on "other" sites

I like it for how stupid it is, if that makes sense.  I like to watch mindless stuff.

I thought the concept was cool but Stallone talks too much and that is not what he should be doing. He needs to be shooting bad guys, blowing s#!t up, fighting, and delivering one-liners lol

It is funny you say that.  I saw him talking about First Blood and the ti was well over 2 hours at first, he begged to buy it back so that it would not get released.  They finally let him edit it and he said something like "There was too much talking, so I cut out almost all MY lines and I let the other people in the movie tell the story of Rambo and then of course, other people started to steal that idea and have the "star" in movies like that have their story told by other people"

Hulu:  English Teacher.  Some of you will love it, it clearly is poking fun at culture today but in a really smart funny way.  It also shows that we can still make fun of each other and the things we "are" without having to lose our minds.
