NHL 2024-25

Yeah that was the weakest effort I’ve ever seen in a playoff game. Hoping they were just out of sorts with Lande’s return but it was ugly. Need to get some production out of their star players and the top 2 lines. So far line 4 has been the only saving grace. Saturday is an absolute must win or they’ll be golfing early.
Dallas has owned this franchise in the playoffs spanning 25 years.  Just unreal.

Stupid Avs, what a letdown on Saturday. I'm sorry, but Dallas is without their leading scorer and best defenseman, and you still can't beat them? Weak sauce by the Avs.

I feel bad for your team the Avs, you guys, including @JJ Husker @AZRaiderH8r

I cannot put my finger on it, but it seems like Dallas has had the upper hand in the playoffs against the Avalanche for 25 years now.  And I mean, against real good Colorado teams too - that were probably better than the Stars.

It's crazy.  And I do feel bad for yall

Yeah the whole Dallas thing has gone beyond annoying. It hurt more this year because Mikko basically knocked us out by himself. Avs really were the better team throughout the series but couldn’t hold a lead late and their powerplay struggled which is unusual. Deboer has Bednar’s number. Avs gotta learn to step on the throat when they get a team down. Not sure if they recover this time. Traded away the future for pieces to win it this year. Shoulda just paid Mikko. All that over only about $500k

Mikko effin Rantanen.

Back to back playoff hat tricks.  Game 7 vs Avs and Game 1 vs Winnipeg.

I think they said he’s scored a point in each of Dallas’ last 12 goals.

Easily one of the worst trades in the NHL in the last 10-20 years.

Carolina to Dallas?  Agreed
Only ahead of Colorado to Carolina.

Avs needed the depth pieces they added for sure (Necas, Nelson, Coyle, Drury, Lindgren) but in hindsight, letting Mikko go looks horrible. Tough to give up him and the prospects but it sure seems like they could’ve kept Mikko and still found a 2C and some other pieces.

I think everyone they added, except Nelson, worked out and was needed but dang, Rantanen has been a one man wrecking ball for Dallas. I think the reason he wouldn’t sign with Carolina is because he wanted back in the Central for revenge. If it all it woulda taken is about $500k more per year, Macfarland screwed the pooch. Plus we lost Calum Ritchie in that mess. Not good.

Mikko was a big reason for the move.  He was gonna play hardball for more money and basically ended up taking the exact same offer with Dallas.

Sucks that he ended up in Dallas and had a good end to the series to eliminate the Avs, but bottom line is the team was going no where with him and needed depth more than a single sniper on the top line.

A lot of reasons why they disappointed, but I don’t think trading  Mikko is high on that list.

I won’t disagree that they needed the depth pieces more than just one more superstar on the top line. But if you cut a top 5 or 6 player in the league lose, it better work or it doesn’t look good. The future was mortgaged and the team was built to win this year. Another first round exit indicates whatever the issues, it was a huge failure. I don’t think simply scapegoating the special teams coach is enough. Macfarland and possibly Bednar need to be looked at.

There’s something wrong with the teams collective mentality for sure. Reminds me a little of the Huskers. Play well enough to win, but as soon as adversity strikes they seem to grip the sticks too tight and fall apart.
