Excellent get here. He is fundamentally sound and doesn't have a weakness in his game. He will come in and play well right away. Reminds me of Cj Stroud a bit.
I don't think he will pass up DR unless he craps the bed this fall so I don't see him playing right away.  But my question is if he is fully committed and stays with us through the recruiting process and signs with us does he redshirt next season or is he a immediate upgrade from DK and is the number 2 qb next season barring any injuries???

Let me be more clear because I think my last comment was confusing. He will come in and show that he's capable of leading a team and executing at a high level. I don't see him beating out the other three when he arrives.

I think you have to go out and get your guy every year and not worry too much about that other stuff. High star QB talent transfers out at an absolutely ludicrous rate. It's approaching about 2/3rds of starting Power 5 QBs were transfers, about the same percentage of QBs taken in the first round of this latest NFL draft.

Yep. You have to take a high level QB every year, even moreso now with the Portal being a thing.

The way I see this playing out is Dylan is going to be the starter for the next few years.  Hopefully KD, if he redshirts, will be here with TJ when Dylan is done.  They will then have a battle to see who starts.  The one that isn't the starter, will transfer.

That might come sooner if either KD or TJ is clearly the second string and it's clear the other one won't ultimately beat him out.  And, if neither KD or TJ appear to be up to the task of leading the team the way the staff wants, possibly both will be transferred out and we will have one of those hot QBs from the portal filling in in 3 or so years.

Also by then, we will have another 4* QB in the room from the 2026 class.

Gone are the days of recruiting a QB with a vision of playing time at this school. You basically have to say now, "Look at this great program w/ great development opportunities and beautiful facilities. Come here and USE us to get to where you want to go. If that happens to line out perfectly in scarlet and cream, great. But if in 2-3years there are better opportunities elsewhere for you, we encourage you to take them and we will have you in a great position to do so."

Rinse and repeat every year and you will always have somebody in the stable ready to be the guy here.

His level of commitment to Neb will be seen in how much, how well he does peer recruiting.  Good getting his commitment early on so that others in his class will take notice and consider Nebraska as well.
Yes. Whether he ever plays a meaningful role here is one thing. But the biggest value is having a 4 star QB committed early to help sell the rest of the recruiting class. Sends a message Dylan was not a fluke and we are going to recruit high level QBs every year.

But my personal opinion is Dylan plays 3 years and gone. Kaelin plays 1 year before Dayton takes over as redshirt sophomore.

I see Kaelin leaving next yr.  Dylan was a late pull, which did not give Kaelin many choices.  A lot will depend on what he wants.  Early playing time or staying home & getting an education.
