Ummm... really? We're fans! I'm still irrationally angry over when the ref screwed us against PSU in 1982!!But maybe, just maybe, it might be time to let go a little about what happened almost seven years ago.
that's the over-obsession with planning ahead and all the thinking ahead this staff does that I'm sick of. Just play for now damnit. Jeebus. I've seen Bill Belichek defer choice in frickin overtime to take the wind.Dunno. The coaches rightly (luckily) figured it would be a close game at the end. Would you rather have a 48 yard game winning or tying field goal with or againsts the wind?I was scratching my head seeing this right away too. We had to get points early in this game and we should have made Sparty go against the wind early.Yes. We gave Sparty the ball AND the wind to start the game. Why is this a big deal and a major blunder? It obviously affected decisions to not kick field goals at the 13:35 from 48, 5:45 from 53, and most definitely affect the fade route to kenny bell at the 3:48 mark the was a pick.
ETA: Would you rather have MSU attempting a 4th quarter comeback with or against the wind? Would you rather us attempt a 4th quarter comeback with or against the wind?
Yeah. I sounded pretty dumb with that. I'll admit. I know what I'm trying to say, I just dont know what words to use. It's like they trick themselves at times. Make the process more complicated than it needs to be instead of just doing what needs to be done.that's the over-obsession with planning ahead and all the thinking ahead this staff does that I'm sick of. I thought they won the toss and chose to receive. But I agree that we screwed up kicking into the wind. What i find comical though is folks using the whole 4th quarter argument. The ends you defend in the first half are completely irrelevant to the second. For instance, saturday night to start the second half nebraska had first choice. We took the ball obviously (weve screwed this up in the past as well) and sparty chose which end to defend. They so happened to take the wind in the third. Us having the wind in the 4th was not a calculated move. We botched the toss and ensuing decisions. I know its not why we lost the game but its just another boneheaded mistake in a sring of vasic football comcepts. And a very solid argument can be made that it cost us an opportunity for 6 1st quarter points.
We won the toss and deferred choice to second half. This has been common practice in college for decades. Just recently it was allowed in nfl and has quickly become standard practice there as well. We deferred. So sparty got choice and obviously took the ball. We then had choice on what end to defend. And on cue with the rest of the night decided to give sparty the ball and wind to start.I thought they won the toss and chose to receive. Yeah, I know deferring is popular. I just thought they said MSU won the toss. Perhaps I drempt that up or perhaps they said it wrong. We won the toss and deferred choice to second half. In second half we had first choice and took the ball as you should. Then sparty chooses which end to defend. They chose to take the wind in the third.
That very well could be. But it still doesnt really change any of what I described. Nebraska still chose to give Sparty the wind with the ball in the first qtr, with it having nothing to do with who was gonna have it in the 4th. Nebraska was still gonna have 1st choice in the 3rd.Yeah, I know deferring is popular. I just thought they said MSU won the toss. Unless you were the type of guy who was "ok" with the USC loss in 07 because it was only an 18 point loss and Callahan's boys scored 21 in the fourth. "They didn't quit for their coach! That shows!"
To me, that's just as ridiculous as what's happening here.

You didnt have to look it up. All you had to do was ask me.I agree and I said as much before.
Also, I did look it up in the official game stats and it said we won and deferred.
