What did we learn Indiana edition

I'd also argue we absolutely have the talent to beat teams like Indiana (or not lose by f#&%ing 49 points). We have very athletic people on our team.

It's not showing up on the field. That's a failure in coaching.
I don’t know. We seem very slow across the board, except Barney.

I think we were 5-3 last year and lost 4 in a row.
Fair. But, I still feel like we have improved as a team judging by the way we were losing last year. So far we have beaten teams we should have beaten … except for Illinois maybe. The turnovers last year was so painful. This loss reminded me of last year. It also reminded me of the loss in Illinois in 2020 I think. First play of the game on offense is a Luke McCaffrey fumble and we couldn’t recover from it. 1st and 10 at our 1 yard line on a kick return should never happen unless it was a muff or fumble. Then the red zone turnovers. I know I don’t need to bring it up all over again. Sorry for doing that. So much pain.

Are you telling me that we should of went after fickle, who is having his own problems.  Or this no name coach who has turned around Indiana.  Honestly its a crap shoot, seriously its just a crap shoot.

If it's a crap shoot, maybe we should roll the dice in a different casino. The one we've been gambling in is clearly rigged, lol.

I think the players felt deflated after drive after drive went 3 and out, or stalled with no points to show for it.

To start the game, didn't we pass the ball 7 of 8 times? With two 3 and outs? To look this bad after a bye week is not a good look.

Talent is one thing, speed is another thing.  We have talent, but not enough.....still after all these years we can not get the right players.

Everyone needs to really think about this...........First year coach at Indiana can go 7-0..........7-0!  We have not hired the right coaches to this point.  Cignetti embraces the transfer portal and signs the right players.  Rhule is a slow builder, but I have not seen signs of wowing me at. this point.  Next point is the Rail family can hold us hostage.  Offensive line has not improved, but we don't dare remove uncle or we lose the nephew.  Honestly, Dylan is a fine QB still learning the college game, but an absolute statue in the pocket.  IF we don't get NFL caliber lineman, he will never be an absolute game changer at QB here.

We haven't really played anyone good at this point.  Those 5 wins are false narratives.  Colorado is our best win at this point, and wouldn't; beat them right now.

That’s kinda my point. I feel like Last year we would’ve fumbled or intercepted our way into another loss or two. I guess the season is still young enough to replicate that?!??  :dunno

Trev Alberts left this program for several reasons.  If he seriously thought he hired the right guy, he doesn't take A/M money.   All these other schools can hire coaches who have immediate success, except for us.

You can blame Satterfield, and I agree with all, but our defense looks lost as well.  We kept Raiola as O-line coach to get Dylan, but none matters if we don't have a decent o-line.  I just don't see huge improvement yet, small incremental improvement, maybe, but not enough to allow me to think we are any closer today than we were 3 or 4 years ago.  Realistically if we get to 7 wins,, we all have to be somewhat happier than going 5-7, but have we improved or did we have an inflated easier schedule this season?

Trev Alberts

If Trev Alberts is your litmus test for a program's success, you're looking at the wrong metrics.

Trev's focus is on Trev and Trev only. Trev fancies himself the Commissioner of College Football. That's been his goal since leaving ESPN.

Well Trev was responsible for this operation.  So yes, he is the one who is accountable for this program this season.

I don't know if any of this matter in the present day college football.  Play off is going to be structured towards the elite programs like Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Notre Dame, Ohio St, and a few others.  No one cares if Nebraska is in that mix other than Nebraska fans.  We can get all the Big 10 money we want and or need, but Big 10 doesn't care if we win or lose.  Its still Ohio St and Michigan, then Oregon and Penn St whose going to matter right now.  Every season that passes and were not relative, is that many more years until we matter.  We can't seem to hire the right coaches and seem unable to hire the right AD either.
