I think you might be focusing on loyalty to the school a bit much. Most of these guys don't come to UNL out of a pure love for the University or the state. For most, they come here because of the coaches that recruit them, the scholarship/NIL money, and the belief that this opportunity can springboard them to a better future. Take one of the key factors away (position coach with close relationship) and a lot of the appeal gets divided.Do you feel like all of the players are leaving bc of the Iowa loss or just EJ?? Butler was wishy washy last year where he entered the transfer portal only to take his name out, it almost feels like James Williams didn't play for the University of Nebraska but for TK and MG leaving as the starting linebacker who knows.
Well spoken my friend. The Nebraska kids have loyalty to the program but even that will change bc offering Nebraska kids scholarships is going to have to be very selective. Next year is going to feel like year one but will no real establishment.I think you might be focusing on loyalty to the school a bit much. Whether right or wrong, that's just the way it is nowadays and until the portal and NIL get under control, we're going to continue to see these sorts of mass changes more frequently.
Raiola…just kidding. But I am with you completely. Every day brings a new surprise. We might have to play lil red in our bowl game at this rate. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings

Rick Neuheisel was just talking about this today. It's going to burn out because of donor fatigue for NIL and evolve into a collective bargaining agreement between the players and organization. Does it happen in a couple of years, 5 years? I can't see there not being a recalibration within the next 5 years, especially if they go to 16. Lots of schools with their hands out with coaching encouragement as there will be more pressure to make the playoff. Ohio State's roster was rumored to be 20 million dollars and recent news was Michigan's QB approaching 10 million dollars to sign in Ann Arbor. That stuff is unsustainable for almost all schools.NIL has killed college football. It has become minor league NFL. How is this helping these players? There is no way this continuous transfer carp is good for their academic careers. Not everyone is going to the NFL and some of them have to get day jobs after college is over. I cannot believe that the NCAA has allowed this crap to happen. In other words, player development is bullcrap. The university with the deepest pockets can buy the championship. And if players truly believed that Rhule is such a wonderful player developer, why are they bolting faster than we can recruit their replacements. Why does it feel like finally going to a bowl game is anticlimactic given the mass exodus in coaches and players. Yet, the one solid constant is Ed Foley. He is more resilient than a cactus.
Gone are the days of actually being a fan of a player. 10 years from now, the question of, “who was your favorite husker player” will be mostly meaningless.I think you might be focusing on loyalty to the school a bit much. He was featured recently. I don’t buy the excuse that he was disrespected earlier in the season so he is leaving. You have a chance with a new OC that understands your value. Why leave? Again, I can’t stress enough how damaging the Iowa game loss has been. I feel that had we won that game, half of what is happening would not be happening.
I saw this today and I don’t understand it. I don’t think the rating services know how to rate the transfer portal yet. With scholarships limited to 105 the transfer portal going to be about bringing in impact players. Princewill has some upside but he hasn’t put it all together and shown it on the field yet. Malachi Coleman is also ranked 27…Princewill is the number one transfer portal player on the 247 board. When we lost Hausmann to the portal he was highly ranked as well. Wished both of them would have finished their careers here. I know the 2 Kentucky wr's that are transferring are highly ranked on the 247 board as well but I don't know realistically what are chances are with them.
Why are you dodging the question(s)? I will have 76 more this morning. Why is asking a general question have to be turned into something like that? We are on a message board to get people's thoughts on things and you have to always be a troll to me even if we have the same beliefs in things. You keep doing you brother.
My concern isn't with individual players who are leaving, but with how this 3 year culture building project is supposed to take a jump if the program is being lead by players in their 1st or 2nd season at NU.
I also appreciate the need for NIL & revenue sharing. But, these players can't appreciate the bonds they are severing & will miss out on the rest of their lives by being de facto pros & mercenaries.
NU's meltdown this season is also starting to make a lot more sense if a number of players had a foot out the door. You'd be surprised how open many players are about going into the portal or not really being interested in schools on recruiting visits.
It might work in the soft 12, but it's a little harder to do that in the big10 & SEC.Credit to Sanders & CU for figuring it out a year or two early. It's becoming more and more like basketball imo. Hopefully hang on to some key pieces and do the best you can to rebuild yearly in the portal. I'm not a fan of the system but I'm intrigued where it will be in 5 years.
Weather in North Carolina is about the same as those other places right now. 25° right now. Thought I would escape such weather moving hereNo one wants to play a bowl game in New York, Detroit, or Carolina in December?
