Gun Control

I'd laugh my a$$ off, if I moved back to SoDak before I got my permit...
this is as good as anywhere for me to share why i believe gun control truly should be a state issue. i know it would be hard to regulate the transfer of guns across state lines and there would be other issues. but the fact of the matter is that states vary largely in regards to population, population density, culture, economy, and so on and so forth. and all of these affect gun issues. so it makes sense why new york would want more stringent gun laws, while sodak would (and should) have more lenient gun laws. this is why no one is happy. when it comes to gun culture, there is a wide spectrum across this nation and the federal gov't is trying to appease everyone, or the lowest common denominator, or however you want to say it. that is just my take on why gun legislation is such a confounding issue. we are all coming at if from very different places.

so to get to walksalone, to me, it makes sense that jersey would have different gun laws than sodak. they should. they have a different gun culture than the frontiersman-ship attitude than our great home (even though i still really consider myself a nebraskan, wonder if that will ever change).

Totally agree with this.

Two 12-year-old students who were wounded in a shooting Monday at a Nevada middle school are both in stable condition, Sparks Deputy Chief Tom Miller said Monday evening. One student was shot through the shoulder and the other was hit in the abdomen, Miller told reporters.
A student opening fire with a handgun he took from his parents. Screaming students running for cover. A teacher, trying to help, shot dead. Two students wounded.

...

The shooter used a handgun taken from his parents, according to a federal law enforcement source who was briefed on the situation. The shooter then used the handgun to shoot and kill himself, the source told CNN's Evan Perez.
I ask again... when is it enough?

Never? It's stupidly simple and it's mind boggling that people don't get it. We, as humans, allow things into our daily lives that have both a positive and negative, so long as the negative is at an acceptable cost. It's why we still allow people to buy and sell things that we know will kill them.
