Who's Leaving? 2024/25 version

Callahan saying many of our young guys are being contacted by other programs (and that seems to be the reality across CFB nowadays).

Im going to assume we have intermediaries doing the same thing.

Probably safe to assume some of these vultures are contacting Barney then lol

The nature of the game these days too. Nice little NIL pay bumps going on everywhere.

McGee, Shavers & Princewell.  I will stand by my accessment that lbs were our weakness section of the def.  Our younger guys were also getting more playing time by the end of the year.  Writing was on the wall
None of the above are better than him. Not to mention that outside of Shavers even play the same position at ILB. Maybe that was my fault for not specifying.

I would say our safety play was pretty dreadful.  Gifford and Hartzog are awful.

At linebacker? Please name 2 of them better than Gbayor. Especially when we lose Wright, Thompson, Gbayor, & Bullock. Shavers is just a pup but hasn’t proven anything.
Gbayor has been here awhile and was a nice contributor, but appeared to have a relatively low ceiling. It would be nice to keep him in the fold, but is not a death blow to the team. Thankfully, we are bringing in Jones & Merritt who show a lot of promise at the position and Shavers coming back would get us started off with a good footing going into the new season.

IMO, players considering the portal may be better served waiting a few weeks to see how the coaching picture shapes up before closing the door on their current situation.

Princewill is one that is supposedly being heavily pursued.

We will agree to disagree. Gaybor was slow & a liability against teams that could pass.

Shaping up like when Curt Cignetti (google him) made the move from JMU. to Indiana and brought 13 of his players with him. Immediate future looking pretty bleak for DONU. This was the year we needed to make a big move and gain some major momentum and ended up falling flat on our faces.
This goes both ways, if we hire the right DC and with DH on staff now.  How many of Dana's Houston players are still around we can go find?

The only way this doesn't work out for us is if Phil Snow is the new DC.  But I don't know if that happens given the nature of how things are playing out, but who knows.
